Quick start
Vellum draws your character HUD, OBS lays it over your webcam, and OBS’s Virtual Camera hands the finished picture to Discord as your camera. Each player sets this up once, on their own machine.
You need: OBS Studio 28 or newer, the Discord desktop app, and a webcam.
1. Open Vellum
Section titled “1. Open Vellum”Open the app. It starts on a picker: choose your game (Daggerheart) and your screen, Player or GM. Each screen has its own address:
- Player:
https://vellumhud.com/app/#/daggerheart/player - GM:
https://vellumhud.com/app/#/daggerheart/gm
The GM screen needs no character, so GMs can skip to step 3.
2. Fill your sheet and copy your link
Section titled “2. Fill your sheet and copy your link”Fill in Character details with the numbers from your sheet, then click Copy share link. The link carries your whole character in the address. This is how your sheet gets into OBS, which has its own separate browser storage.
3. Put it in OBS
Section titled “3. Put it in OBS”The quickest route is the Vellum scene collection:
- Download
vellum.scene.json. - In OBS, choose Scene Collection → Import and pick that file, then Scene Collection → Vellum.
- Open the Vellum HUD source’s properties and paste your share link as the URL.
Prefer to do it by hand? See OBS setup.
4. Go on camera
Section titled “4. Go on camera”- In OBS, add Sources → + → Video Capture Device, pick your webcam, and drag it below Vellum HUD.
- Click Start Virtual Camera. Approve the one-time system prompt if your OS shows one.
- In Discord, open Settings → Voice & Video → Camera and choose OBS Virtual Camera.
That’s it: your face, with your stats on it. Change a value by clicking the HUD in OBS (right-click the source, Interact). Everything you change is saved and survives a reload.
- Hotkeys to change stats without the mouse.
- Pick a frame to change how your HUD looks.
- Troubleshooting if something doesn’t show up.
